Word. contains the sporadic rantings of an undergraduate and armchair linguist from South Asia who is best described using the term wordhacker. The etymology of this neologism is as follows.
word – A word is a unit of language that carries meaning and consists of one or more morphemes which are linked more or less tightly together, and has a phonetical value.
hacker – An expert or enthusiast of any kind.
Though far from being an expert linguist, this wordhacker loves the English language, and enjoys terribly geeky things like discussing semantic change and blends. Someday, he hopes to make use of all of his amatuer research and actually publish something that will be of use. Until then, this is his soapbox.
Read and weep.
